↵ NEWSLyndhurst High School Principal Dies After Battle With CancerOriginal Release: 12/4/2023 The Brush High School Alumni Association is saddened to learn of the recent passing of Principal Mike Fording. During a routine colonoscopy in June, it was discovered that Mr. Fording had stage four colorectal cancer, that spread to his liver. Mr. Fording had just completed his first year as principal at Brush when he received this unexpected diagnosis. During the past five months, he continued to show up and lead. According to Superintendent Dr. Linda N. Reid, "Mike's public and courageous battle with cancer gave us the opportunity to walk alongside this wonderful man for the last several months, but the sting of loss, despite its inevitability, is very real, strong, and painful. In the time he spent as principal of Charles F. Brush High School, and throughout the SEL Schools, Mike created many, many enduring friendships. His friendliness, humor, and passion for education remained at the heart of his interactions with students and parents". Mr. Fording was a devoted friend of the Alumni Association, participating in our events and supporting our initiatives. We express our deepest condolences to his wife, Melissa, their four daughters, and the rest of his family. As well as to the Brush High School students and staff.
